I apologize for not giving you an update sooner...but we are very busy.  We are now learning about the role of government and responsible citizenship in Canada. (Social Studies)  Firstly, we identified three types of government in the world.  (i.e. monarchy, dictatorship and democratic).  Then we identified the different levels of government in Canada (i.e., federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments) and some of the services provided by each (e.g., health services, education, policing, defence, social assistance, garbage collection, water services, public transit, libraries).  We also identified the major rights and responsibilities of canadian citizens (e.g., rights: equal protection under the law, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to vote; responsibilities: to respect the rights of others, to participate in the electoral process and political decision making, to improve their communities).  Finally, we describes the steps of the electoral process in Canada.

We are now just starting an inquiry on a social or environmental issues of choice (e.g., issues related to transportation, health care, the environment, and/or crime and policing).
